This American Heart Association Heartsaver® Bloodborne Pathogens course teaches students how to protect themselves and others from being exposed to blood or blood-containing materials. 
 
This course is designed to meet Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements for bloodborne pathogens training when paired with site-specific instruction. 
 
This course is often added to the Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED course. 

The Heartsaver® Bloodborne Pathogens course covers the following topics:
 
  • Explanation of Bloodborne Pathogens
  • Transmission of Pathogens 
  • Protection from Pathogens 
  • Handling Exposure 
  • Cleaning Exposed Areas 
  • Reporting an Incident 

This course is designed for individuals who require OSHA-compliant training, such as security guards, medical providers, childcare workers, school personnel, tattoo artists, housekeeping personnel, general workplace employees, and more. 

New and Recertifying Students

Length: 40-60 minutes

This course certification is valid for 1 year, per OSHA guidelines.
